Navigation Systems
Our Piper Aztec aircraft (C‑GIQC, C-FIDS) are outfitted with:
- Accuphoto GPS Flight Management System
- Trimble 2000A GPS Navigator coupled with autopilot
Our Navajo (C-FPXL) is outfitted with:
- TRACK’air POSTRACK Flight Management System
- Trimble 2000A GPS receiver with autopilot interface
Primary navigation is with the Accuphoto system using real-time, differentially corrected GPS as input, with the Kollsman or Bendix navigation sights as backup. Depending on the flight configuration, either the pilot or the photographer acts as navigator.
Secondary navigation is enabled by the Trimble GPS or Arnav Loran-C receivers. The first two points along a flight line are "frozen," and a grid is programmed establishing line spacing in feet or nm. Tertiary navigation is achieved using a Kollsman or Bendix drift meter.
